Magnificent Nearby Waters

The hundreds of lakes, ponds, and rivers in Kuhmoinen offer excellent opportunities for fishing, boating, canoeing, swimming, or simply enjoying the pristine natural waters. From Kuhmoisten Kivilinna, it is only 500 metres to the Päijänne waters. The distance to Lake Ala-Karkjärvi is also about half a kilometre.

Canoeing

From a kayak or canoe, you can experience nature from a unique perspective. They also allow access to places unreachable by boat. Moving almost silently, a paddler can observe nature up close. Near Isojärvi National Park lies the Pitkävesi canoeing route, which also has a lean-to shelter and a campfire site. The Pitkävesi route runs through several rivers and lakes in Kuhmoinen, from Lake Pitkäjärvi to Pitkävesi, ending in the village of Päijälä. With its varied landscapes, the route is suitable even for less experienced paddlers, but it does require good basic fitness.

Beaches

There are several swimming beaches in Kuhmoinen: Rekola Beach and Kirkonkylä Beach on the shore of Lake Ala-Karkjärvi, Kokoniemi Beach on Lake Päijänne, and Kalholanniemi Beach on Lake Ylä-Kärkjärvi.
